Did you know that nearly 58% of UK adults haven’t made a will?
When someone dies without a will in place it can cause tremendous stress and pain to family and friends left behind. Even worse:
- Young children could be taken into care whilst guardians are appointed
- Your spouse or civil partner will not automatically inherit all of your estate
- Common law partners may not receive anything at all
- People outside of your immediate family are unlikely to benefit
So it’s really important to have a will in place, particularly when you have children, buy or sell a house, marry, cohabit or divorce.
And if you make a will during April you’ll be helping others too.
April is Will Month for St. Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield, a charity that every year looks after 1600 terminally ill patients and their families at no cost to them. As a partner with St. Luke’s, we’ll draw up a basic will for you free of charge and ask you to make a donation to the hospice. Suggested donations are £95 for a single will and £135 for a joint will, significantly less than you would usually pay.
Why should I make a will in St. Luke’s Will Month?
